FourFour Hooks Up With ArtistData and Makes User’s Lives Easier

FourFour, a newly launched platform developed exclusively for bands and musicians to build better websites for free, announced today a partnership with ArtistData that provides musicians with an easier way to keep their official site in sync with Facebook, Twitter, MySpace, and other music-related sites.

Thousands of musicians have been using ArtistData to syndicate information across social networks and concert databases. Now, those musicians can use ArtistData to update their official site at the same time. Bands enter tour dates, news and blog posts into ArtistData and then, by running their site on FourFour, can have that information simultaneously published to their website. Bands can now update all of their sites in one place without having to enter the same information multiple times.

Free The MySpace Standalone Player From Those Awful Layouts With This Bookmarklet

paul

This is a guest post from Paul Fenlon, a gifted web developer, drummer, and friend of evolvor.com. Thanks Paul for this wonderful lil’ tool that will make browsing MySpace way less frustrating in the future!

If you’re anything like me, then you probably find yourself swearing at MySpace and the designers that pollute it. For the most part, MySpace pages are cluttered and media-rich, resulting in slow load times or maybe even a browser crash.

I don’t know about you, but the only reason I’m on MySpace is to keep track of bands and find out about new music. So, when I go to MySpace I really only need to see the music player.

Dave Matthews Band Unveil New Website, Me Likey Very Much!

dmb

Checking my email this morning I got my monthly Dave Matthews Band email (which I normally don’t read – while I’m a fan, I’m not the kind who cares about every single Live Trax CD they put out.), and noticed they mentioned having a new website design completed, so I eagerly checked it out.

Sex, Drugs, & Rock N Roll, Pt 1: How To Create Content Like A Rockstar

On September 7th, I gave a brief presentation at SearchCamp Philly, a marketing “un-conference” in conjunction with PodCamp Philly. I spoke on the advanced track about how to create killer content that attracts links. Much of my work in the internet marketing world has been based on creating viral content to get links to rank for specific keywords in Google.

The same principles apply to getting mentioned in press outlets. Getting links is the same as traditional PR – creating something buzzworthy to get people talking about you. Enjoy.

Back In The Saddle Again

What a rollercoaster ride it’s been over the last week or so! If you didn’t notice (and shame on you), Evolvor.com was down for oh about 3 and a half days! WTF happened?

Well, I addressed some issues I was having while updating WordPress and a new theme at the same time. I spent quite a bit of time putting the new theme to work (Wp-Remix is a lot tougher than I thought it was going to be, thank god I have experience reading and hacking WordPress!), but Monday morning at 7:00 am (yes I was up all night putting on the finishing touches), the new design went live.

AT 7:05, my site went down. 403. Forbidden.

Upgrading WordPress, Theme & Content Changes

I’ll have to apologize to the readers here at evolvor.com – I’ve been working on the site all week to get it properly upgraded to the new WordPress 2.6, as well as ready a new theme, and we’ve been running into bugs here and there.

For some reason during my upgrade, I lost all categories in my database, so bear with us ad we try to restore them.

We have a few themes that we are working kinks out that will provide a much more visually appealing site in the days to come.
