Hailed by Spin as “one of the catchiest songs of Alice In Chains’ history,” lead single “Check My Brain” has blanketed rock and alternative radio and rocketed straight to No. 1 on Billboard’s Rock Songs Chart and No. 1 on the R&R Rock Chart.

The riff-driven track appears on the band’s highly anticipated new album, Black Gives Way To Blue (Virgin/EMI), available September 29th. Playboy gave the disc four stars, calling it “Alice In Chains’ Back In Black,” Revolver praised the record for its “dense tapestry of heavy guitars and soaring melodies” and Reuters wrote “the heavy guitars, submerged vocals and thunderous rhythm section assures fans that the band has lost none of its menace.”

Let’s get one thing out of the way; your music is important. It’s your art, it’s why you’re here on the planet, and you’ve got to pour your blood, sweat, tears and soul into it. It has to be real and you have to feel it. They have to feel it. it’s all about the music.

What you have to understand, however, is if you want to make a decent living recording and performing your music, you have to understand how to capture the attention of your audience. You have to figure out how to create an emotional connection with them. This is the secret to building a fanbase and becoming successful.

I’d heard of it before but never looked into it, but video blogging site Revver allows users who upload video to monetize their efforts by placing ads at the end of each video. Could this be how Google plans on monetizing the millions of videos uploaded to YouTube? I guess we’ll have to wait and see.
