Killers Working on Covers Album

The Killers concertWith Day & Age only a few months old, The Killers are already planning their next release. Drummer Ronnie Vannucci recently told Q that the band will be working on a covers album.

Each member of the band will be choosing three tracks to cover, Vannucci has chosen Rod Stewarts’ “Young Turks” and, tracks by Genesis and Tom Waits. No other info on what the other guys are eying up just yet.

You may be thinking how are the guys going to record this album with current touring obligations? Very simple. Vannucci has landed some on-the-road recording equipment, so they can obviously record the tracks while their on tour, which is very cool.

The Killers – Don’t Shoot Me Santa

I’ve been a bum and haven’t done a “song of the week” for sometime. But, since it’s December, which means Christmas time, I’m making sure to keep up with it. So, for the next few weeks I’m going to share some of my favorite Christmas tunes.

This week I’m gonna share one of the silliest Christmas songs out there, “Don’t Shoot Me Santa”. What else could we expect from a band like the Killers?

The song was released as single in November of 2007 as a digital download, with proceeds going to AIDS charities. The song is about a dude pleading with Santa not to kill him. Pretty odd take on a beloved character like old St. Nick.

Weekly Wrap-Up: Guns N’ Roses, Scott Weiland, Smashing Pumpkins, Dave Grohl, Alice in Chians, The Killers, Mitch Mitchell

The Jimi Hendrix Experience album coverIt’s been a rather gloomy week, at least weather wise, so it’s refreshing that there were a good amount of news on 90’s acts.

The listening parties are open to the public, but no recording devices what so ever will be allowed in. And, for fans that pre-ordered the new album and bring their receipt will get a free shirt. He may have taken over a decade to finally get Chinese Democracy out, but Axl seems to be making it up to the fans. Here’s the info on the listening parties:

Weekly Wrap-Up: Aero Zeppelin, The Beatles, Guns N’ Roses, The Killers, Gavin Rosedale, Wilco

Here’s a quick look at some of the headlines that caught my attention this past week.

The Killers – For Reasons Unknown

Back on August 2 I saw The Killers put on a, well I guess I’ll say it, killer show. The Vegas natives opened up with “For Reasons Unknown” and for the last month I’ve been addicted to this song.

But, this week the song popped back up after I let it rest for just a tad. And guess what? I’m still in love with song.

“For Reasons Unknown” was the fourth single from the 2006 album Sam’s Town . The song may have not enjoyed the success of the band’s previous singles, but chart positions aren’t everything.
