Windows and ReverbNation Team Up Once Again to Provide Music Fans Free Music

A few months back, you might recall the first time ReverbNation and Windows teamed up to promote free downloads. The campaign was a success for both parties – many bands got some serious exposure, ReverbNation and Windows got some ad love, and some acts got to put a few bucks in the bank (which they need to take whatever they can get at this point, especially if they are just starting out.)

ReverbNation Teams Up With Label 2.0 to Provide Free Training to Indie Musicians

reverbnation150x120whiteCould ReverbNation possibly offer the Indie musician any more free business and promotional tools than they already have? With their free music widgets, email software, and stats programs, you’d think they’d run out of free things for musicians to use to spread the word about their music.

Not so. Over the past few weeks, ReverbNation has added several new things into their artist “Resources” section of their control panel, including information about several well known music industry consulting groups for bands to contact should they want outside promotion.

Hardworking Pop-Rock Outfit State of Man Offers Album For Free

I’ve had my eye on these guys for over a year now; pop-rock band State of Man, hailing from Atlanta. They’ve got pop radio written all over them, which whether you like it will always be a sound people can relate to. And there’s one song of theirs that are truly like a lot.

They recently released an album, but what I thought was cool is that today they are GIVING IT AWAY using ReverbNation. This is a very well produced album coming from an act that has probably spent a boatload to get where they are today.

The Music Biz Then & Now – Guest Post by Frank Joshua

frankSome 20 years ago I was a struggling musician in London playing every shitty venue in town trying to get a ‘deal’. As I look at the music biz from this perspective I’m wondering;

  • a) what are the connections between what I learned then and what I see now and
  • b) what is the single most important factor in making music in either era?

What I was sure of back then was that without a label or publisher no one could be successful. And barring the odd exception this was true. You made yourself into a killer live band and leave it to the label that was lucky enough to sign you to sort out making a huge album. All you had to have was the talent.

ReverbNation Video Tutorials Now Available @ Viddler.com

Evolvor%20Digital%20MusicQuantcastThe other day I sat down with some friends of mine who just dropped their debut album and are getting into marketing mode. For months now I’ve been telling them to get their asses on ReverbNation, and they finally were ready to listen.

We were going to sit down at the local Central Perk (yes, it’s really called that I know lame) but the students had overrun it with their usual Sunday study-cramming, so We decided to walk back to my place. The whole time their drilling me with questions about Reverb. What is it exactly? They do the same as Tunecore? And manage your email list? What about – and I cut them off. I told them that they needed to just see it for themselves and that they’d “get it”, and would be preaching about how cool the tools are as soon as they saw them

Val Kilmer is a Musician and Uses ReverbNation & Snocap!

I’ve been really busy over at ReverbNation this week as I begin expanding my artist roster to include to local acts which I have had the pleasure of helping out over the past year, 61 North and Julian Day. We’ll have some more info on those acts here at evolvor shortly, but first I have to talk about one of the featured artists I saw while over the site.

His name is Val Kilmer! Yes, the man who magically channeled the lizard king himself as Jim Morrison in The Doors is alive and writing southern twangy folk music.

ReverbNation Lets Musicians Add Press Clippings to Any Website

The ‘Press Widget’ allows Artists to aggregate accolades from the media or fans into one place, and then deploy them to all of their other sites. Artists can add an unlimited number of clippings, with each one containing a link back to the original source for fans to read more.

The deployed widget can be customized to match the color of any webpage, and will update in real time when the Artist adds, edits, or removes old clippings. The widget has smart word detection, which rotates clippings at a slower speed for long quotes and a quicker speed for short quotes, timed with the fan’s ability to read them. Typical of all ReverbNation widgets, the ‘Press Widget’ can easily be shared by fans or made the object of ‘Street Team’ missions that incentivize the most rabid fans to spread it virally.
