Radiohead Giving Away New Song “These Are My Twisted Words”

We really like Radiohead here at Evolvor.

Obviously they make great music, but they’re also proving to be innovators in the new state of the music industry. With the release of “These Are My Twisted Words,” the band is proving that giving something away gets a lot of buzz.

The story began last week when a mysterious new Radiohead song had been leaked on some torrent sites. No one knew were it came from and the band was mum. The MP3 was even accompanied by some ASCII art that dropped some hints about the song’s origins and future, like naming today’s date. While questions were rising, there was no doubt that it was a new Radiohead song.

Radiohead – “Nude”

So I finally got a copy of Radiohead’s In Rainbows for Christmas, and after a few spins I can say that I’m utterly addicted to the track “Nude”.

While the song may not blow people’s minds at first, it’s one of the band’s best because of it’s simplistic sweetness. Thom Yorke’s vocals are stellar as he utters “Don’t get any big ideas…they’re not gonna happen”. Meanwhile, the rest of the band backs Yorke up brilliantly with some smooth bass and drum work behind a hypnotic guitar, proving that they are the best band around. Let’s face it, these guys are our generations Beatles. Oh yeah, the song is flawless live as well, see for yourself

Radiohead Unveil Fan-Made MySpace Video Contest Winners

Radiohead have announced the winners of their “Aniboom In Rainbows” Animated Music Video Contest.

The band asked fans to create videos for tracks from last year’s historic release In Rainbows. Three winners were to be selected, but since Radiohead do things their way, they picked four. The winners will have their videos placed on MySpace.

The videos for “Reckoner” and “Weird Fishes” (which you can watch below) were put up last week. By the way, both are pretty clever and very pretty damn good. You can look for “15 Step” on November 25 and “Videotape” on November 28.

The Rise of Kings of Leon

Kings of Leon at FIB (Benicàssim).I’ve been listening to the new Kings of Leon album a lot lately. If you don’t already have a copy then you should go out right now and pick one up. Only By The Night is fucking awesome. Period.

Anyways, as I’ve been listening to KOL, I’ve been thinking about their current success. I mean how did a garage band from Tennessee go on to become Madison Square Garden headliners in five years?

‘In Rainbows’ Stats Released

In Rainbows album coverOn Monday I wrote a little post about the effect of In Rainbows one year after it’s experimental release. Today, in some sort of coincidence, Warner Chappell (who published the album) revealed how well it album actually sold.

Radiohead ‘In Rainbows’: One Year Later

In Rainbows album coverLast Friday, October 10, Radiohead’s In Rainbows celebrated it’s one year release.

When the news broke about Radiohead releasing a new album that would be digitally released as a pay for what you want model, the buzz was everywhere. Everyone wanted to throw in their two cents on this crazy plan.

While giving away music was, and remains, nothing new to a lot of musicians, having a band as huge as Radiohead practically give away an entire album was mind blowing. Now after having a year to digest In Rainbows, it’s still safe to say to that Radiohead has indeed changed the music industry.

Radiohead – “High and Dry”

Over the weekend I was watching I Know Pronounce You Chuck and Larry, yeah there was very little on the boob tube. Anyways, there is this scene between Adam Sandler and Jessica Biel where Radiohead’s “High and Dry” is playing in the background. I thought it was very good use of the song.

I’ve listened to “High and Dry” a couple of more times since then and I forgot how great of a song it is, despite Thom Yorke saying that it’s a “very bad” song.
