I’m hoping this video interview of Rand Fishkin, Lee Odden, Todd Malicoat discussing link building and the differences in obtaining them helps those who may be in the dark about the importance of link baiting.

So I stumbled upon an interesting concept from Text Link Brokers referred to as “Hosted Marketing Pages“.

Seems they’ll generate a custom content page that they will place on a related website in their network. The page generated will be high in keyword density and feature links to your site again using keywords in your anchor text. This of course as we all know is good for your search engine rankings (that is, having a web page who’s content is relevant to yours using relevant keywords and relevant anchor text.)

Again from Jim Boykin, a post regarding Google’s Age -Linking Factors. Jim talks about how Google may actually document the date a link was found to a website, thus proving that older sites with old links have more of a chance of high search engine rankings than a new site with newer links.

I think there will be a million opinions on this one and my two cents is this: Use common sense when link building. If you have to think two hard about how two things can be perceived as being related two each other, than don’t try to link those two things in the first place.

Eric Ward has introduced “The Ward Report”, a monthly newsletter about hardcore link baiting tactics. Eric knows what he’s talking about, and his insights are priceless. However, the price tag definitely shuts the the door on the cash-strapped readers out there.
