Did Google + Just Became the Most Important SEO/Marketing Tactic of 2012?

It’s been quite a LONG time since I’ve written a post that wasn’t some diatribe for musicians that would cause headaches and break hearts (and ultimately be looked at as rubbish, even though I was right). Now, with the recent news from Google regarding the inclusion of Google+ sharing as part of their search results, I’ve decided to re-join my SEO family that gave birth to me so many years ago and pick apart the topic. After months of insight boiling in the back of my mind, and seeing the growth of Google+ (and the +1 signal) influence on search in my own projects, I’m here today to say that Google + is going to have a very important impact to your SEO strategy here in 2012, and it’s going to be a lot bigger then you might expect.

Facebook and Google Offer Music Sales

It was probably only a matter of time before Facebook and Google jumped on board the online music store bandwagon.

Facebook will be adding songs to it’s store, where users have a number of different sharing options. You can either pay a dime for a track, which will allow you to send it to friends, but they can only listen to it online, or pay ninety cents to send a copy that can be downloaded.

Google, in the meantime, looks like it’s going after iTunes.

They’ve teamed up with Lala and iLike, and possibly Imeem, for a project dubbed One Box.

Google Yourself

I’m sure that most of the world has “Googled” themselves at some point. While most may see it as a time-killing novelty to go rummaging through Google’s results to find things either about themselves or friends and family, I see it as very very important to not only my career but to my general reputation as well. I was out of the top ten results on Google for a short time and have made a triumphant return at # 6.

Revver Showcases Possible You-Tube Ad Model

revver video bloggingI’d heard of it before but never looked into it, but video blogging site Revver allows users who upload video to monetize their efforts by placing ads at the end of each video. Could this be how Google plans on monetizing the millions of videos uploaded to YouTube? I guess we’ll have to wait and see.
