Alice in Chains are currently being featured on Yahoo Music’s Maximum Performance! The band stopped by the Yahoo studios to perform an acoustic set featuring songs off the new record Black Gives Way To Blue. The band rocked through amazing acoustic renditions of their new hit single “Check My Brain”, “Black Gives Way To Blue”, and “Your Decision”. The band also sat down with Yahoo for an exclusive video interview, where the band talks about life after Layne, and their amazing re-birth with new singer William DuVall.

Elton John Collobarates With Alice in Chains on New Album; Track Listing & Artwork Released

Among the many highlights on Black Gives Way To Blue, the highly anticipated new album from ALICE IN CHAINS, is a special guest performance by Elton John. The two rock legends collaborated on the album’s stunning title track, “Black Gives Way To Blue,” a heart-stirring tribute to Alice In Chains’ late lead singer Layne Staley. The album arrives in stores September 29.

“We were thinking about adding piano to the track and a friend suggested we call Elton,” recalls guitarist/vocalist Jerry Cantrell. “I remember laughing and saying, ‘Yeah, I’ll get right on that.’ But I decided it was worth trying and wrote Elton an email explaining what that song means to us — that it’s a real, raw openhearted song for Layne.

Alice in Chains Giving Away New Single “A Looking in View”

alice

Today was one of those days that best resembles Christmas morning.

I woke up to discover that Alice in Chains have released the first single from their upcoming album Black Gives Way to Blue. But, it got even sweeter. It turns out that AIC are giving the song away for free at their official site.

The track, “A Looking in View,” not only has a cool title, but is classic Alice. The band sounds tight and fresh, like they haven’t missed a beat since the decade plus between albums. Not to mention that new vocalist William DuVall fits in perfectly with Jerry, Sean and Mike, so stop crying about him haters.

Alice in Chains: In the Studio Book to Spotlight Your Band!

If you didn’t already know, Alice in Chains are going to release a new studio album sometime this year. This will be the band’s first studio album since 1996’s self-titled release, and will also be the first without Layne Staley.

Besides the new album, which I can’t wait for, Rock N’ Books will be releasing “Alice in Chains: In the Studio” book. The book should be coming out in the fall and will focus on the writing and recording of previous AIC albums and hits.

Alice in Chains Studio Update

The guys from AIC have been putting up some short video clips of them in the studio. Nothing groundbreaking, but still a great way to keep fans, like myself, at ease until a new fucking Alice in Chains album!

What really caught me attention though, was an update from this dude named Baldy last week, and here’s what he had to say:

Here we are in December, the holiday season is in full swing, and William & Jerry are just a few days away from recording vocals. Guitars and bass are heading down the home stretch, and although the drums are done, Sean is coming in almost every day to provide input and give full body massages to anyone he can get his hands on.

Weekly Wrap-Up: Guns N’ Roses, Scott Weiland, Smashing Pumpkins, Dave Grohl, Alice in Chians, The Killers, Mitch Mitchell

The Jimi Hendrix Experience album coverIt’s been a rather gloomy week, at least weather wise, so it’s refreshing that there were a good amount of news on 90’s acts.

While not a 90’s band per se, Guns N’ Roses have revealed a number of listening parties for the long awaited Chinese Democracy. The listening parties are open to the public, but no recording devices what so ever will be allowed in. And, for fans that pre-ordered the new album and bring their receipt will get a free shirt. He may have taken over a decade to finally get Chinese Democracy out, but Axl seems to be making it up to the fans. Here’s the info on the listening parties:

Scott Weiland Solo Tour, Alice in Chains To Record New Album, Oasis Attacked

Scott WeilandStone Temple Pilots frontman Scott Weiland will be embarking on a solo tour this November and December. Weiland will be on the road promoting his second solo album Happy in Galoshes. I mentioned the release date last week, which will be November 18, but I had the title wrong. My bad. Hopefully, Scott won’t fuck up this solo tour like he did in 1998 when promoting 12 Bar Blues.

Here’s Scott Weiland’s tour dates, with more to be added:
