Pearl Jam Returns to SNL, Announce US Tour

Just a heads up…

Pearl Jam will be returning to Saturday Night Live THIS upcoming Saturday night, March 13, to push some tunes off of their latest release Backspacer.

Eric did a cool post on Pearl Jam and their SNL history a couple of years ago, but here’s an updated look at their SNL performances.

1992

“Alive”

“Porch”

1994 (The year they somehow how got to perform 3, not the traditional 2 songs)

“Daughter”

“Not For” (Actually live take, not rehearsal!)

“Rearviewmirror”

Pearl Jam Releases “The Fixer”

If you’re a regular here at Evolvor, then you know that we’re pretty much obsessed with Pearl Jam. That’s why today is a special day.

backspacer

Pearl Jam have released the first single from their ninth studio album Backspacer. Radio stations are blasting the single and you too can check it out via the band’s MySpace page. Although we got a little taste of it during the MLB All-Star Game last week.

Pearl Jam Rocks The Tonight Show With “Got Some” From Upcoming Album Backspacer

Last night’s debut of the new Tonight Show with Conan O’Brien turned out to be a HUGE night for Pearl Jam fans – the band debuted a new song from their upcoming album Backspacer called “Got Some”. The single is rumored to be released in July with the album dropping September 22nd.

As an obvious Pearl Jam junkie, it’s easy to understand for me why they were chosen with this honor, even being picked over from other upcoming Tonight Show guests like Green Day and Chickenfoot (the super group featuring Van Halen alum Sammy Hager and Michael Anthony, guitar whiz Joe Satriani and RHCP drummer Chad Smith). Each and every time the band is in front of the camera, a great TV moment occurs.

What You Can Learn From The Pearl Jam Live Experience

There’s nothing like the moment when the lights go out, the audience roars, the shadowy figures appear on stage, and then there’s the opening note. Ah, there’s nothing like that euphoric concert.

Most bands have it, others don’t. Pearl Jam defiantly has it.

So, what makes them such a great band, to the point where people have separate bank accounts for Pearl Jam shows?

Pearl Jam Teams With Rhapsody, Rock Band For Fan Project

pjrbrhap

We all love Rock Band and Guitar Hero, and for fans of acts like Aerosmith, Metallica, Van Halen and The Beatles, it doesn’t get much sweeter.

However, Pearl Jam are shaking up the format a bit.

Instead of fans being presented an already formatted package, the fans will actually be making their own Pearl Jam Rock Band.

While details are a bit foggy at this point, we do know a couple of things. The game will be released in 2010 and fans will be choosing the set-list!

How Does Pearl Jam Keep Fans In The Loop? It’s Called the Ten Club

It’s May, which can only mean one thing…a month long dedication to the Pearl Jam!

This year we’ve decided to have a little theme within our Pearl Jam love. That theme would be how Pearl Jam is one of the most fan friendly bands out there.

Since we started a little late this year, I’ll stop my yapping and get the ball rolling by talking about the Ten Club.

tenclub

The Ten Club has pretty much been around to assist fans for almost the band’s entire career. While there have been changes, like mailing ticket orders to now doing it online, to flaws, like not really being updated on news, the Ten Club is still a great thing for the fans.

New Pearl Jam Interview And Interactive Game Reveals Details on “Ten” Reissue

tenreisue

Were just a few weeks away from the upcoming re-issue of the legendary debut album from Pearl Jam (featuring completely remixed tracks from long-time collaborator Brenden O’Brien, the never-before-released MTV unplugged performance, and other goodies) set to go on sale March 24th.

Every Pearl Jam fan should check out this recent Q & A session with the band at the Daily Record.

It’s a rather long (and poorly edited, I might add) interview, but offers some great insight into the early days of the band in addition to details about the upcoming re-release. The band chats about their early rise in Seattle music scene, their favorite songs, the future, how they’ve stayed together for so long.

Pearl Jam Back In The Studio With Brendan O’Brien

pj1

We’re finally back, and so is Pearl Jam!

In case you haven’t heard the band had already mentioned that they were working on a new album, but a couple of weeks ago Jeff Ament gave Billboard some more info on the upcoming album.

Basically, Ament said that the band were about to head to L.A. for a two week session with Brandan O’Brien (who you should know by now since he previously produced all of STP’s album, some stuff for The Boss and of course the Pearl Jam albums Vs., Vitalogy, No Code and Yield). He said that Vedder had put down some rough vocals back in December for about half of the songs, and the rest of the band has been working on the album during a recent trip to Montana.

Pearl Jam ‘Ten’ Re-release

Ten album coverAs probably many of you have heard, Pearl Jam will be re-releasing their 1991 debut album Ten on March 24, 2009. The band will be re-releasing the album in four different formats, basically ranging from a package for the causal fan to a package for the uber die hard PJ fan who is willing to go bankrupt for the band.

Here’s how the packages will differ, courtesy of Pearl Jam’s official site.

Pearl Jam – “Santa God”

Well, since it’s the tenth of the month, it naturally means that’s time for the monthly fix of Pearl Jam.

If you’re a member of Pearl Jam’s Ten Club, then you know the running joke about the annual Christmas single, which usually arrives to fans closer to Easter than Christmas. However, last the guys shocked us, because the single actually arrived during the right time of year.

I was also surprised to see not one, but two Christmas tracks, as opposed to a live cut or some other sort of unreleased track.

Pearl Jam Members Keeping Busy With Side Projects

Green River Reunion - Sub Pop 20 YearsWell, it’s the tenth of the month, which means some sort of Pearl Jam post.

The band has been quiet since they wrapped up their short tour this past summer, but the members have been keeping busy.

OK, here way go…

- Eddie did another solo tour, wrote a song called “Someday We’ll Go All The Way” for the Cubs (who are out of the playoffs now and apparently some folks are blaming Eddie for this lose).

- Mike’s been doing some work with the CCFA and is going to be a part of this Hendrix tour.
