2011 Music Marketing Manifesto – Do You Have One?

Last year around this time I wrote my “music marketing manifesto for 2010“. So what has changed for this year?

Nothing really.

Nope, my ideas are pretty much the same – build your audience and worry about making money once you have it. Give your music away and just be happy that people are listening!

My only extra advice I guess would be to change the way you think about being a musician, about thinking you “deserve” something for your art. And it will be this advice that you’ll find in my upcoming book, titled, Your Music Sucks (and Maybe Nobody Likes You). Stay tuned as I’ll be giving the first chapter away very soon!

Posting Your Songs or Events on Facebook is NOT Interacting

Oh Facebook, how you’ve done wonders for all of us to post pictures of lol catz and links to celebrity news articles we read when we should be at work. Yes, Facebook has opened many doors for us to interact with our friends and peers in ways that before might have had to wait until the end of the day at the bar to discuss, or via snail mail or whathaveyou. Now we can share information in real time, 24/7.

The Evolvor Music Marketing Manifesto for 2010

Hello students & clients of mine – whether you’re just jumping on board the Evolvor train or have been with me for a few years, I hope I’ve proven through working with you that I have the knowledge and ability to help you in your music endeavors. It’s a tough, tough world out there I know, and without a zillion dollars to dump into marketing and advertising, trying to “make it” seems near impossible. And I would agree that it is.
