Submission: Whiskey By The Gallon

I had no idea what to expect from a band called Supernaw. Instead of a metal-orientated band, I heard a more acoustic driven tune. I think the band’s biggest aspect is the guy/girl duet. Most of them, when we hear that, it’s just one song of a gimmick album, but rarely in a band. If these guys are going to go any further they need to make a decision, be a serious band or go a Tenacious D route, personally, the latter is probably their best choice.

The following artist is one of the participants of the Evolvor Crowdsourced Rock Compilation Contest

For a band that’s only been around since 2009, Faulkner Alley sounds thoroughly solid. Musically, these guys remind me of an Incubus-like band that we had a lot in the late 90′s/early 00′s, which surprised me since they hail from Oxford, MS. Thankfully, they haven’t forgotten where they came from since they named their band after author William Faulkner, who happened to born in the same area.

To be honest, I expect more in the press/fan department out of this band. Their bio right off the bat got me interested, dropping names on various forms of collaboarations with the likes of DJ Jazzy Jeff, R. Kelly, various TV shows, a hip-hop guy starts a rock band? This should be awesome!

Kinda dig the sound, reminded me a little of a punkier Cake; kinda of a goofy but listenable punk/experimental sound.

Not really doing a good job on the social networking front as many of the fans seem to be over at the “dying” MySpace, but you’re developing a solid email list using the free download and that’s what’s most important. A solid 4(out of 5) stars and a contender for the compilation.

The Evolvor Rock Compilation Contest Continues…

First, a big thanks to all the artists who submitted to the first ever evolvor crowdsourced compilation contest! While I didn’t get as many entries as I would have liked, there still was enough to make it a success as it IS the first one, so I’m happy to announce we’re doing another one – this time a rap/r&b compilation contest that starts today! (the rules have changed a little bit this time around)
