Contest Entry: b00n – 3 Stars (Out of 5)
The following artist is one of the participants of the Evolvor Crowdsourced Rock Compilation Contest This review is a very quick, first impression of what we thought of their submission and the data presented in their electronic press kit.
Not exactly fond of the band name b00n, but hey, I’ve always been told to never judge a book by it’s cover. After listening to the Springfield, IL band’s track, I was somewhat glad that I didn’t pass judgment on them based on their name. For a demo the track sounds pretty decent. I think once the band gets into a studio and records a polished version they’ll be on to something. I could see b00n reaching fans still clamoring for a band like The Smiths.
Contest Entry: Matthew Meadows – 3 Stars (Out of 5)

I was looking forward to checking out Matthew Meadows, since he’s from Seattle and we kinda of have a fascination with that part of the world. Unfortunately, he plays into that Seattle sound a little too much. I’m talking about that crunching guitar with dark lyrics that almost comes across as campy. But, this is his first solo work after being a part of the band Zombie Jihad (killer name by the way), so he just needs to discover his own sound and he should be on his way.

When you first see a pic of Georgia native Gina Hadley, you may be thinking that she’s trying to steal Mary J. Blige’s look, but in actuality, she kinda of rocks. I actually dig her mix of rock, soul and R&B. It’s got an insane amount of potential, once she focuses and develops her own sound. She has the look and voice to make it, she’s just not there yet.
Contest Submission: Ghost Ghost – 4 Stars (Out of 5)

Submission: Camden, Maine
When I saw terms like Ghost Ghost, Brooklyn and duo, I was dreading a poor MGMT knockoff. I was actually pleasantly surprised by what I heard. Sure, there could be similarities between the two groups, but Ghost Ghost relies more on folk music than electronic grooves, hence why they have described themselves as a “freak-folk band”.
Contest Submission: Gene McCaffrey – 3 Stars (Out of 5)

Submission: Let’s Go to the Moon
Not much is known about this mysterious man named Gene McCaffrey.
He’s apparently from beautiful Ft. Collins, but seems to have a feeling in New York. His sound is definitely New York. It’s a catchy throwback to the CBGB days. His music can easily get stuck in your head, case in point, I still can’t stop whistling. His biggest drawback is his lack of social networking, matter of fact, it’s pretty non-existent. I think if Gene gets to work on Facebook he could easily gain some fans.
