Sell Digital Downloads Direct Using Nimbit

One of the most frequently asked questions in the digital music scene is “how can I sell my music?”

It’s a question that is both easy to answer and complicated at the same time, depending on who you are.

The first thing musicians want to know how to do is get their music on iTunes. Now, this is obviously a no-brainer – millions of people use and love iTunes and you need to be there in case someone is looking for your music there; the iTunes user base is so dedicated that they’ll buy a song or album using the service simply because of the convenience factor.

Bandcamp Updates With Some Seriously Awesome Features

Anyone who has worked with me knows I use two main components when it comes to building a web presence for a band or musician. WordPress and all of it’s wonderful capabilities, integrating ReverbNation and it’s distribution, email list management and analytic solutions.

While I will continue to utilize these platforms to spread a band’s message across the web, I also understand that there are a number of other solutions out there that also offer an opportunity to do the same.

Arkells

Never heard of Akells?

You’re not alone. This groovy group was brought to my attention by Crazed Hits, which featured the band as an A&R pick.

“Ballad of Hugo Chavez” – Arkells

Agreed. And I would like to add that Arkells is a fantastic A&R pick. This band is definitely onto something special and it is only a matter of time before the record labels come a-knockin’.

Arkells may have a weird-sounding name but their mix of  indie rock and soul is divine. They sound like Kings of Leon crossed with the Beatles and Elton John. And they’re from Canada.

What’s Holding Trey Songz Back from Superstar Status?

I think Trey Songz has limitless potential. He has the look, he has the voice, and his star power is immense. One of the things holding him back is that lately he hasn’t come out with a truly great record on par with his first single “Just gotta make it.” That song gave you a piece of Trey’s soul and unfortunately his latest single “I Need a Girl” just isn’t on the same level. I don’t like that the lead melody is played on a fake guitar either. It’s a nice melody but the fake guitar just annoys me.
