Here’s some news to make VR fans smile, well at least until they actually listen to the music.

Two demo tracks have leaked. That’s the good news.

The bad news, they’re garbage.

The two tracks, “Motha Fucka” and “Clappy”, were instrumental tracks sent to potential singers via VR’s management. The singers then wrote their own lyrics and sang over the demos. The two leaked tracks feature vocals from Gord Prior from the London, Ontario band Blu Bones.

So, why do these tracks suck?

1. The music is bland.

“Clappy” sounds like The Clash’s “I Fought Law”, but without any emotion and conviction. It makes you totally forget that Slash is still around. We all know that the guys can do better than that. I know it’s a demo, but they’ve had quite some time to write some killer tones. I will say that the music to “Motha Fucka” is a tad better.

2. This dude Gord blows.

Forget that his name is Gord. Forget that nobody has every heard of him. It doesn’t change the fact that this guy isn’t ready for the big leagues. Vocally he’s trying way to hard to capture an Axl Rose type style. But, he doesn’t have the talent to even come close. He even borrows some of Axl’s lyrics in “Clappy”. At least on “Motha Fucka” he comes into his own, but he still falls short.

I seriously think that VR will not pick Gord. If they do, then they’re done.
