It’s only natural for musicians to eventually team up together. It’s like lamb to the slaughter. Sometimes a collaboration just isn’t enough to get musicians off. Sometimes they need to go the extra mile and form a supergroup.

With recent news of James Iha and Taylor Hanson’s Tinted Windows project, and of course the much awaited Chickenfoot (featuring Hagar, Satriani, Michael Anthony from VH and Chad Smith from RHCP!), let’s take a look down memory lane and check out the many supergroups of the past and present, more importantly those that rocked the Seattle scene throughout the 90′s.

Portishead Ask Fans To Help Distribute New Album

Portishead are looking to their fans to help them promote their next album, since the trio is yet another band free from a record contract.

Member Geoff Barrow recently left a MySpace Blog entitled “The Future” and, here’s what he had to say:

“We spent the day discussing the future of the P as we are free… well free of a deal and free of commitment… for now!”

The multi-instrumentalist went on to state:

“With the world being the way it is there are lots of options open…” and he added “But if you lot have any bright ideas of how we should sell our music in the future lets us know, why not!”

Pearl Jam Back In The Studio With Brendan O’Brien

We’re finally back, and so is Pearl Jam!

In case you haven’t heard the band had already mentioned that they were working on a new album, but a couple of weeks ago Jeff Ament gave Billboard some more info on the upcoming album.

Basically, Ament said that the band were about to head to L.A. for a two week session with Brandan O’Brien (who you should know by now since he previously produced all of STP’s album, some stuff for The Boss and of course the Pearl Jam albums Vs., Vitalogy, No Code and Yield). He said that Vedder had put down some rough vocals back in December for about half of the songs, and the rest of the band has been working on the album during a recent trip to Montana.
