The Cure Streaming New Album
The Cure are currently streaming their new album, 4:13 Dream, via MySpace. The album will officially hit the shelves tomorrow.
But what was pretty unique about 4:13 Dream was the release of a new single on the 13th of every month until the album’s release. By the way, The Cure didn’t just a single track every month, these were actual singles with b-sides.
The first single “The Only One” was released on May 13, followed by “Freakshow” on June 13, “Sleep When I’m Dead” on July 13 (which is a familiar date around here at Evolvor) and finally “The Perfect Boy” on August 13.
4:13 Dream was initially going to be released last month, but was pushed back to October. To make people happy The Cure released Hypnagogic States instead, which was an EP containing remixes of the four released singles.
Honestly, if The Cure didn’t promote this album by releasing a new single every month, I probably would have never known about it. I remembering hearing something about this months ago and thought it was rather clever. Nothing like reminding fans every month about an upcoming release.
Oh yeah, after giving 4:13 Dream a quick listen, I can tell you that it’s pretty good. I like what I’m hearing. It’s still The Cure, but the music is really upbeat. So give it a listen right here.
