Foo Fighters on Hiatus
I just read the news that the Foo Fighters are going on hiatus. This makes me very sad.
Dave Grohl broke the news to BBC Radio One DJ Chris Moyles. So, what prompted this decision? Apparently it was the band’s two night stand at Wembley Stadium back in July, where they were joined by Led Zeppelin’s Jimmy Page and John Paul Jones.
Here’s what Grohl had to say: “We’ve never really taken a long break, I think it’s time. After doing Wembley we shouldn’t come back for 10 years because we’ve played to everybody.”
“It’s a funny place being in the band now because we’ve been a band for about 14 years. We’ve gone from playing the Astoria, to playing Earls Court to playing Wembley. That wasn’t really the goal but hey, we’ll take it.
“We’re over in the UK every year, every summer so I think it’s time to take a break and come back over when people really miss us.”
I understand that bands need time off, but it kind of urks me when a band says that they’re taking a long break. That always doesn’t sound good to me.
I’m not saying that the Foos are done because Dave said that they’re taking a break, but add to the fact that there were reports about a greatest hits compilation coming out in November, it makes you wonder just a bit.
