Chris Cornell Sets Release Date For ‘Scream’

Former Soundgarden and Audioslave frontman Chris Cornell will release his third solo album on October 14.
The album, which is entitled Scream was produced by Timbaland, which has obviously disturbed some of Cornell’s fan base. Here’s what Cornell had to say about working with Timbaland:
“A lot of people were concerned about, like, am I gonna do what, for example, Timbaland tells me to do, if he wants to tell me to do something, that kind of thing,” he said. “We didn’t really have that relationship, it wasn’t that type of a process. It was more, he would bring in a beat, an idea, I would write to it and sing it, and we would move on kind of to the next thing.”

I’m still feeling so-so about this album. I’m trying to not be like a typical Cornell fan and say “this sucks, get back together with Soundgarden”. Artists need to grow and sometimes do something out of the ordinary.
However, Cornell needs to get over himself and realize that he was, is, or never will be a pop star. Timbaland is good at what he does, but to me, his beats sound the same. The new tracks that I’ve heard sound like Nelly Furtado left overs with Cornell on vocals. It’s not really all that fresh.
I guess I’ll have to wait until October to pass final judgment.
