Trust Me, You Need To See The Hype Machine
Are you looking for a site to discover some new tunes, or to get discovered yourself?
Then look no further than The Hype Machine.
You may be asking yourself “hmm, sounds like a neat place, but what exactly is the Hype Machine?”, which is a fair question, so here’s the deal.
The Hype Machine simply aggregates Mp3 blogs into one place. The more “hyped” an Mp3 is (i.e. the number of mentions, links to the blog post via technorati and delicious), the better chance it has of making the Hype Machine front page or radio.
It’s that easy and the result is a great database for anything and everything that is music. The site features music by emerging acts to remixes of songs that we already know and love.
Besides being a great database for something unique, The Hype Machine can also be used to throw your own music into the mix. As long as you get one of your tracks written about by one of their bloggers, you’re all set. This may sound discouraging at first, but check out their lengthy blog list and you’ll soon realize that it’s not that hard of a task to do.
Don’t just go spamming bloggers though thinking to make a big splash. Try to connect with the blogs that fit your niche, and craft personalized emails to them – these kats get bombarded everyday with bands trying top plug their music, so you’ll need to word a little harder to get their attention.
Once you actually get a post on one of these blogs (remember, you’ll have to give them an Mp3 to link to), do your best to facilitate the conversation and “Hype” the song – this will hopefully get the wheels turning to get you listed on the Hype Machine.
So, if you’re looking for some new music or want to expose your own work, than give The Hype Machine a shot, you’ll probably like what you’ll find.
