It’s Getting Hot In Here! Latest Music Marketing Developments

SO MUCH is going on here, I can barely manage to keep on top of things…and that’s a good thing. Just more for me to share with all of those out there looking for a few pretty cool ways to jump on the online marketing bandwagon and realize that you can sure as hell put the petal to the metal and get your talents out there.

On the music scene, we’ve got a few new developments which I would definitely check out:

Crown Victoria – Face to Face

Just got back in town after spending the night in Dirty Jers to see two emerging local bands. I had the opportunity to shoot both sets (which ended up being 3+ hours of music, so much that I ran outta tapes!) on my soon-to-be outdated digital camera. Don’t worry, I’ll have a full production team with HD cameras in no time:)

I knew I had to do one thing right: make sure it sounds good! So while the picture quality might not be all that (poor lighting conditions), at least I got back far enough so that the sound was just right. Here’s a sneak peak at the opening band, Crown Victoria, opening their set with “Face to Face”.

Turning Back The Clock

As I approach the end of my first year of blogging here @ evolvor.com, I wanted to take some time to check out some of the older posts on this site that may have been forgotten, or are often overlooked by new readers of this blog.

When we first started blogging, our main focus was on internet marketing techniques, new services on the web, etc. Over time, we shifted our focus to be more music and art related in our posting as we developed into serving that niche.

So Much Going On Here @ Evolvor!

I gotta say, this summer sure has been a blast, but I’m even more excited about the fall that’s right around the corner. We have some major projects underway, and between building sites, consulting, networking, and other very important but top secret responsibilities I have, I haven’t had time to blog alot.

However, as September approaches and we get in the “back to school” mode, expect lots of music and marketing related posts to fill you full of evolvor goodness. With so many things happening in the world of the web, I’ve got hundreds of things I want to talk about (seriously, I have over a hundred post ideas in my Wordpress dashboard waiting for me to write!)

Blogoholica 8/17/07

It’s been a while since I’ve done a blogoholica post – I’ve been too busy with all of my projects to even think about reading everyone’s blog posts (sorry guys it’s summer time).

You gotta be more than what you think you are if you are to survive – learn more in the David Lee Roth Guide to Marketing.

I completely agree with the notion that Guitar Hero is inspiring others to play music.

Black Market Radio, Part Deux

Just wanted to let you know that one of my favorite new bands, Black Market Radio, just released the re-cut/re-mixed version of there debut album last Tuesday, now called “Better Than A Killer”.

The band is now with label Slugfest Records, and will be playing next Thursday’s WMMR Night in Philly at the Grape St. Pub (more info at the BMR Myspace page).

Readers who come out and support the band will get a beer on me. Here’s an album preview for you to check out, or you can purchase the cd at the Slugfest Store or buy it directly from itunes.

A Shout Out To Our Sponsor Rhapsody

One of the problems many bloggers deal with is the nature in how they go about monetizing their sites. Many use Google Adsense as their main form of ad income, while others use affiliate marketing. In evolvor.com’s early days, we used Adsense and the banner programs they offered, which would offer “targeted” ads based on a blog post or article’s content. Targeted my ass. The ads were piss poor and made my site silly.

Is MySpace All That? A Guide to Marketing Your Music On Myspace

I’ve been in the music marketing game for a little while now, and have conversations everyday with people about all the things that need to be done to get your music heard and albums sold. The only thing I ever hear back from musicians is MySpace this, MySpace that.

Many feel that having a MySpace page IS internet marketing, and that they couldn’t possibly do anything else to garner attention online, right? Then I tell them they are idiots for allowing someone else to own their content!

Silverchair – Straight Lines

Have had the song stuck in my head all weekend.

Be sure to check out the first single off Silverchair’s new album, “Young Modern”, entitled “Straight Lines”. If you dig, then head on over to the bands website, Chairpage.com, where you can stream the entire album for free.

Wait, did he say “stream for free?”

Yes kids, for free. It’s the way to go these days, and the guys of at Silverchair know what’s up!
