Pearl Jam and the Late Show with David Letterman

Pearl Jam has been known to avoid the mainstream media, but they seem to have a special relationship with David Letterman. Here’s a time line for everyone to enjoy!

Feb. 1996: Eddie makes a surprise visit and performs part of Black. This came about after Dave kept singing Black for several shows.

Sept. 1996: PJ performs Hail Hail during a commercial free episode. They also perform Leaving Here during the credits.

May 1998: The band performs Wishlist; this was Matt Cameron’s debut with the band.

A couple of weeks later, Eddie appears on Paul Shaffer: Behind The Music.

1999: Eddie performs A Heart To Hang Onto with Pete Townsend.

April 13, 2000: A great version of Grievance.

Nov. 14, 2002: I Am Mine is performed.

Nov. 15, 2002: The very next night the band was back with Save You.

Sept. 2004: Pearl Jam does a cover of Bob Dylan’s Masters of War while they were on the Vote For Change Tour.

May 4, 2006: PJ performs Life Wasted and then do a show for fans after the taping of the Late Show. This was the first time that the Ed Sullivan Theatre was used as a concert venue. The performance was also webcast.
